At Hatzor, an ancient tel and a national park, archeologists have found the ruins of palaces and residences from as long ago as the early 2nd millennium BCE. Visitors can observe the ruins of the different settlements here, and the especially impressive water system of the city, which has been dated to the period of King Ahab (9th century BCE). In 2005, UNESCO declared Tel Hatzor a World Heritage Site.

The fortress at Biriya was built during the British Mandate period. It is situated on the “mountain of the brave,” in memory of the early settlers. Biriya is a symbol of the struggle of the Jewish people for the land of Israel, due to the difficult battles fought here until it was ultimately liberated as part of the Yiftah Operation. A path marked “In the Footsteps of the Fighters” sets out from the fortress and continues by several landmarks where visitors can learn about the settlement of Biriya and the events of Israel’s War of Independence that took place in this area.

Kfar Nahum (Capernaum)

The Church of the Beatitudes, situated on a mountain rising 125 meters (about 410 feet) above the level of the Sea of Galilee, is one of the most sacred sites for Christianity in the Sea of Galilee region. It also offers a spectacular view of the area. The church was built in the 1920s and next to it is a Franciscan convent. According to Christian tradition, this is where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, preaching the main principles of his teachings, to thousands of believers.

Tabgha
The Church of the Multiplication is located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. In Arabic it is called Tabgha and in Hebrew, Ein Sheva, for its seven springs.
According to Christian tradition, this is the site of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and the fishes, when according to the New Testament, Jesus fed 5000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Today there is a new church here, built on the ruins of a church from the Byzantine period.
