A charming picture of red roofs against the green and brown landscape of the Hula Valley and the brilliant white of the snowcapped Mount Hermon in the distance – that is the view of Hatzor Hagelilit viewed from Mount Yavnit above it. A visit to Hatzor reveals a well-kept, modern town with the strong influence of a rich cultural and religious tradition of the immigrants from Morocco who founded the town in 1952-1955 and still live here. After walking up the main street, which traverses Hatzor from east to west, the road leads you into Hatzor Forest, site of the tomb of the tanna, Honi Hame’agel (Honi the Circle-drawer).
